The German Sport Guns GmbH is a German firearms manufacturer that specializes in the production and distribution of sporting and recreational firearms. German Sport Guns, also known by the abbreviation GSG, manufactures various types of firearms, including .22 caliber pistols, .22 caliber rifles, semi-automatic rifles, and various firearm accessories. The firearms from German Sport Guns are characterized primarily by innovative ideas as well as a commitment to high quality and reliability. Historical weapon replicas, such as the Colt1911, MP40, and StG44, are among the most popular products of GSG.
The GSG MP40 in 9mm Luger caliber is a semi-automatic rifle that pays homage to the legendary MP 40 - one of the most famous submachine guns in the world. The GSG MP 40 is known for its astonishing historical resemblance to the original rifle, although it uses the 9mm cartridge. GSG relies on steel and zinc die-casting for the 9mm MP40 to create not only a robust but also a leading rifle. The housing and grip are made of zinc die-casting, while the barrel is made of cold-forged special steel. The bolt is made of machined steel and locks for the best possible precision. A strong extractor claw and an active ejector complete the technical overall picture. The semi-automatic weapon is visually and ergonomically almost indistinguishable from the original MP 40 submachine gun.
Like the real MP 40, this semi-automatic uses the popular 9mm centerfire cartridge. The 9mm cartridge, also known as 9x19 or 9mm Para, offers you a moderate recoil compared to larger calibers like .40 S&W or .45 ACP. This makes shooting easier for shooters of all experience levels. A lower recoil allows for faster target reacquisition and more precise shooting. Although the 9mm Luger is a smaller cartridge, it has good ballistic performance and effective stopping power.
The GSG MP40 is a semi-automatic rifle, meaning it fires one shot per trigger pull. The repeating rifle offers you a 10-round magazine. Since this caliber is a centerfire cartridge, there is only a "short" magazine. Aiming is done through an open sight consisting of a rear notch and front post. The sight consists of a fixed and a folding rear notch. With the included Allen key, the sight can be loosened by unscrewing the M3 set screw and adjusted left or right. Four additional interchangeable front posts of different heights are included with the weapon. The trigger is a single-action trigger with a trigger weight of 3.2 kg. The buttstock is a folding stock, just like the original.
The GSG MP40 is classified as a semi-automatic for sport shooters, as the original weapon was introduced before September 2, 1945. Therefore, the 9mm rifle can be purchased by sport shooters with a pre-entry in the green firearm ownership card (WBK). For hunters, however, acquisition with a valid annual hunting license is quite normal.
