The Preduzeće 24/47 is a Yugoslav reworking of older Mauser rifles, originally based on the Mauser Model 1924. The designation "24/47" stands for:
Model 24 (original Yugoslav Mauser, based on the German Karabiner 98a)
Conversion year 1947, when many of these rifles were modernized after World War II
After the war, Yugoslavia modernized large stocks of the Mauser M24 rifles at the "Preduzeće 44" factory (now Zastava Arms). The changes led to the Model 24/47, which was used as the standard rifle in the Yugoslav army until it was replaced by more modern weapons.
