Short, handy barrels are increasingly gaining popularity among hunters. This trend is supported by the more frequent use of suppressors. Standard ammunition is designed for common barrel lengths of 600 mm.
When firing standard ammunition from short barrels (420 mm to 550 mm), the following disadvantages become apparent: energy and speed loss, limited effectiveness, pronounced muzzle flash, loud muzzle report, and increased wear on suppressors.
Therefore, RWS has developed the Short Rifle cartridge, which is specifically optimized for use from short barrels. In practice, this means: shooting from short barrels without loss of performance.
