For sale is an extraordinary rarity for collectors and enthusiasts of historical precision weapons: An Enfield No. 5 MK I in the classic caliber .303 British. This used weapon impresses not only with its very good condition but especially with its unique configuration.

A special highlight of this model is the stock, which has been replaced with the high-quality stock of the legendary L2A1 sniper rifle. Since the L2A1 is directly based on the proven Lee-Enfield system, this modification integrates seamlessly and gives the weapon a distinctive appearance as well as improved ergonomics. The system itself comes from the production of Birmingham Small Arms and bears the authentic acceptance stamps of the British military.

The weapon is equipped with a robust metal butt plate that shows no signs of rust. Included in the delivery are, in addition to the weapon, a 10-round magazine, a sight, and a matching rifle sling. Please note that the scope visible in the pictures is included as a free gift in the package.
History and Use

This Enfield combines the compactness of the No. 5 MK I with the aesthetics of British sniper technology. It is excellent for sport shooting, hunting use, or as a special exhibit for weapon collectors.

The Enfield No. 5 MK I, better known as the "Jungle Carbine," is already a legendary weapon in itself. In combination with a Custom L2A1 stock modification, it creates an interesting hybrid of classic WWII technology and the ergonomics of the early Cold War era.

1. The Base: Enfield No. 5 MK I (Jungle Carbine)

The No. 5 MK I was developed towards the end of World War II to meet the demands in the Pacific theater (jungle warfare).

Caliber: .303 British.


Features: Shorter barrel than the standard No. 4, a distinctive muzzle flash suppressor, and cutouts on the receiver for weight reduction.


Notorious Problem: The "Wandering Zero." It has often been claimed that the weapon does not hold its point of aim, which is usually attributed to the extreme recoil forces and lightweight construction.

2. The Modification: L2A1 Stock Shape

The L2A1 was the heavy-barrel version (light machine gun) of the Australian SLR (Self-Loading Rifle), the Commonwealth variant of the FN FAL.

When a No. 5 is modified with a "Custom L2A1 Stock," it usually means the following:

Ergonomics: The original, rather slender wooden stock of the No. 5 is replaced with a stock that mimics the lines and pistol grip of the L2A1/SLR.
