The Sparc AR is turned on using the rear-facing arrow buttons. It is dimmable in over 10 levels, with the two lowest levels intended for use with night vision technology. To turn it off, the down arrow button is held for 5 seconds, and the Vortex Sparc AR is switched off.

To conserve the battery (1 x AAA), the Vortex Sparc AR automatically turns off the red dot after 12 hours. The battery has a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours at the lowest brightness level.

After switching on, the SPARC returns to the last selected brightness level.

Like the Sparc II, the Sparc AR comes with 2 modular mounting bases for Weaver rail/Picatinny rail. The height of the optical axis is 37mm (Co-Witness height), with an intermediate adapter, the optical axis is at 40mm (1/3 Co-Witness).
