The new Axion product family has been completely revised; the thermal imaging device now offers numerous changes and optimizations. The image quality is now controlled by AI in such a way that it can always deliver the best possible quality depending on the current visibility. The thermal image sources are better distinguished from the surroundings. The thermal image is enhanced in three stages and processed with a filter for edge smoothing. The brightness and contrast allow hunters and wildlife observers to track the object even under the most difficult weather conditions. The technology is housed in a special casing made of a magnesium alloy, which leads to a greater weight saving; moreover, the material is particularly torsion-resistant and temperature-resistant. Since the thermal device is handheld, long observation sessions are not a problem due to its compact design and low weight. The new Axion 2 device generation is equipped with a Lydred detector, which is manufactured in France. The chip is based on a pitch of 17 micrometers, and the resolution of the Axion 2 XQ35 is 384 x 288 pixels. The 1.0 lens is 35 millimeters in size and consists of a germanium lens that focuses on high transmission in the long-wave infrared (LWIR) range. Also impressive is the battery life, which now lasts up to 11 hours. Pulsar again uses the APS5 battery replacement system, allowing for battery changes to be completed in seconds. The battery can be charged directly in the thermal imaging camera via a USB cable. A USB power bank can also be used via the USB port. Optionally, the APS charger from Pulsar can be purchased. The WiFi connectivity, which previously operated in the 2.4 GHz range, has been supplemented by the more powerful 5 GHz range. The wireless data transmissions to smartphones or other mobile devices are much more stable and demonstrate better image quality. An object with a human-like silhouette and a height of 180 cm can be detected at a distance of 1.3 kilometers in absolute darkness. Additionally, the lens allows for a wide field of view of 10.7°, meaning that an area of 18.7 meters can be displayed at a distance of 100 meters. The PiP function (picture-in-picture) allows for another enlarged image to be displayed on the screen to magnify a specific area.
