Historical Background

The K11 was introduced in 1911 and replaced the longer infantry rifle model 1911 in units that required a more compact weapon, such as cavalry and artillery. It was significantly more manageable than its predecessors, yet still extremely precise – a characteristic for which Swiss military rifles are known.

The K11 was regularly modernized during its service life, particularly for the use of the more powerful GP11 cartridge, which was introduced in 1911. This cartridge is still known today for its high ballistic performance.
