With the "Competition Rifle" 223, short CR 223, the gunsmith Haenel continues its long tradition in the manufacture of semi-automatic rifles. Once, the first assault rifle in history was built and developed at C.G. Haenel in Suhl. The CR 223 is a semi-automatic rifle with a piston system in caliber .223 Rem. based on the legendary AR 15 system. As a modern self-loader in centerfire configuration, the Haenel CR 223 also functions as a gas-operated loader with a rotating bolt.
