Revolver, Reichsrevolver; M/83, 10.5mm Mauser, manufactured in Erfurt 1893, WW1, German Empire. The revolver M/83, better known by the designation Reichsrevolver, was used by the Imperial German Army starting in 1879. This became necessary as the still-service percussion revolvers were outdated. To determine the best weapon, a commission was established with the mandate to equip the imperial army with uniform and modern weapons. This led to another common designation of the revolver, namely Commission Revolver.

Technically, the revolver was oriented towards the American revolver model Smith & Wesson No 3 in caliber .44 Russian, as it was manufactured for the Russian armed forces. In the course of development, the single action trigger system and ammunition were adopted in modified form, while the practical tip-up lock and extractor star were not adopted. After just 4 years, the design was revised because the revolver was too heavy and unwieldy. The revolver was replaced in 1908 by the pistol 08, although examples from reserve stocks were still used in World War I.

The revolver is in a condition that requires restoration but is worthy of collection, as it is completely matching numbers. However, it does not have a valid German proof mark. Additionally, unfortunately, the leaf spring in the hammer is broken.
