The HK243 S TAR self-loading rifle is a sporting variant of the G36 built exclusively for semi-automatic use. Heckler & Koch claims to have designed this weapon for veterans and other experienced users who dedicate their leisure time to sport shooting in addition to official shooting. It has been specifically designed for dynamic disciplines and is oriented towards the high quality standards of the military-used G36.

Standardly, the HK243 S TAR is delivered with a Picatinny aluminum handguard, an aluminum sight rail with flip-up sight, a foldable adjustable stock with cheek rest, and a 10-round plastic magazine. In addition, the weapon features a cold-hammered and hard-chromed precision barrel, ambidextrous bolt catch, magazine release, safety/fire selector, and charging handle.
