Product Description
For sale is a fascinating piece of weapon history from the early 19th century: An antique Pepperbox (bundle revolver) in the unmistakable English style by Samuel Nock. This historical original bears the legendary old proof marks of the Birmingham Proof House from the period of 1815 to 1855 (crossed scepters with crown). A true relic from the era of late Georgian or early Victorian England, which impressively documents the evolution of multi-shot handguns.
The rotating barrel bundle features six smoothbore barrels, which was typical for the front-loading bundle revolvers of the time, and is designed for the historical caliber .375. The weapon is based on a classic box construction with a top-hammer. Although the piece is unsigned, which was absolutely common for the thriving export metropolis of Birmingham at the time, the fine lines and construction are strongly oriented towards the groundbreaking works of the famous London gunsmith Samuel Nock.
Honest Patina for Collectors and Restorers
The weapon exhibits a beautiful, authentic age patina. The metal surfaces and the classic wooden grips bear the honest traces of nearly 200 years of history – nothing is cobbled together, overworked, or ground down. It is a spectacular decorative piece for the historical display case or a rewarding project for restoration.
Please note that the weapon is expressly sold in a non-working condition. The mechanics, particularly the automatic transport of the barrel bundle and the cocking of the hammer, are currently not fully functional, and the hammer does not fall. Here, the skill of a seasoned tinkerer, restorer, or watchmaker is required to bring the historical mechanics back to life.
Legal Status and Scope of Delivery
Absolutely free from 18 years. Since this weapon was demonstrably manufactured long before the legal cut-off date of January 1, 1871, it falls under the corresponding legal exemption of the Weapons Act. It is therefore completely free of acquisition permits and can be purchased without a firearms ownership card (WBK). Only proof of age is required for the purchase.
The scope of delivery includes the antique bundle revolver as well as an elegant, non-original presentation case, which provides the weapon with a stylish and secure storage frame.
