Crossbow, Bernhard Merkel Suhl, Cal. 16/70

It is a shotgun from the manufacturer: Bernhard Merkel Suhl, year of manufacture August 1950, caliber 16/70. The weapon has barrels 74 cm long and is tightly choked. Choke approximately ¾ and full choke, thus it is a long-range shotgun that presents itself in nearly new condition. With gold-plated triggers and also with a patented release in the forend. The weapon is engraved on the left side with ducks and ornamental engraving and on the right side with game birds and on the bottom side probably with quails. Everything is filled with ornamental engraving. Based on the engraving, it can be seen that this was likely an export weapon for the USA, as the game bird and quails do not have a German character. The weapon has no cheek piece, good walnut wood with clean hand-cut checkering. The stock length from the first trigger to the end of the stock, including the plastic cap (original), is 37 cm. The system itself is color case hardened. The weapon was acquired at an auction in the USA by a master gunsmith from Brandenburg, who then brought this weapon back to the new federal states and has maintained it there as a collector's item. The weapon is in excellent condition and has an ejector and sliding safety and double triggers as well as sling swivels. The weapon is excellently balanced and is immediately ready for use, although it is actually to be considered a collector's item and rarity.
