Description

SABATTI SAPHIRE Stock with Hole

The model designation SAPHIRE stands for Sabatti All Purpose Hunting Italian Rifle. The name itself indicates that the Italian manufacturer has developed its new bolt-action rifle specifically for hunting purposes.
It fundamentally differs from the traditional hunting rifle. The Saphire offers the possibility to use interchangeable barrels, and it features a comfortable opening angle of 60 degrees and a very good fine trigger.
The newly developed, cold-hammered Multi-Radial Barrel (MRR) made from AISI-4140 (42CrMo4) steel reduces bullet wear, achieves a higher exit velocity, and is significantly more precise in bullet guidance.
All model variants come with an M15x1 muzzle thread. Ideal for mounting suppressors or a muzzle brake. The open sights are screwed on, allowing for easy removal when using over-barrel suppressors. This keeps all options open for the user. When not in use, the muzzle thread is covered and protected by a discreet cap. The barrel length is 52 cm, and the outer diameter of the barrel is approximately 17 mm.
The bolt is CNC-machined from 55-aluminum. An integrated, two-part Picatinny rail provides maximum flexibility for scope mounting. The locking head made of NiCrMo steel has received special heat treatment for enhanced toughness and hardness.

Miscellaneous: The Multi-Radial Barrel Profile (MRR®)
When comparing a traditional barrel with a polygonal and the multi-radial barrel, the latter is ideal for both traditional and full metal jacket bullets.
In Multi-Radial barrels, two different radii alternate, providing geometrically positive support for the bullet without overstressing it. In fact, the bullets follow the contour under pressure and are not cut as in traditional barrels, which extends the barrel's lifespan. Furthermore, there are no sharp corners like in other barrel systems where residues can accumulate, keeping the barrel cleaner and reducing wear.
All tests conducted show that multi-radial barrels shoot better and more precisely with conventional lead bullets and full metal jacket bullets in calibers .308 (7.62 mm) and .264 (6.5 mm) than traditionally shaped barrels.
At standard pressure values, the exit velocity is higher than that of a conventional barrel – under certain circumstances, by up to 12%. The bullet seals the bore better, preventing gas from escaping forward, which optimizes the effect of the driving energy. Additionally, friction between the bullet and barrel is minimized.
The spatial arrangement has further improved due to the extremely tight production tolerances that must be adhered to in the manufacture of multi-radial barrels. The multi-radial barrel is ideally suited for the cold forging process. The consistency of the produced barrel profile is excellent, and the overall quality of the barrels has improved.
The special barrel geometry at the barrel's entrance in multi-radial barrels allows for more precise and continuous guidance of the bullet through the chamber neck and bullet bore than is the case with conventional barrel systems – the bullet meets the bore in the best way, reducing flight wear.
Under the same conditions, less copper deposition occurs inside the multi-radial barrels, resulting in less cleaning being required. And when cleaning is necessary, it is easier than with conventional rifling. The user can further enhance the performance of the multi-radial barrel simply by applying abrasive paste, without the fear of ruining the barrel, as can happen with traditional profiles.
