The 8x57 JRS is a top-quality cartridge for combination guns, especially double rifles.
With it, a very fast rate of fire can be achieved in double rifles, as the barrel is only minimally pushed out of the target when fired.
Since there was already an 8x57 JR, it was a logical step to create a cartridge with a rim for break-action guns alongside the 8x57 JS with the stronger 8 mm bullets. The 8x57 JRS is therefore the sister cartridge of the rimless 8x57 JS. It was also introduced in 1905.
