Zeiss camera eyepiece DC4 Diascope 65T/85T

For nature observation with extremely high magnification, Carl Zeiss Sports Optics presents the camera eyepiece DC4 for observation and documentation with Zeiss spotting scopes at Photokina 2006. The image processing technology comes from DXO Labs. The camera eyepiece DC4 works in conjunction with the Zeiss spotting scopes Diascope 65 FL and Diascope 85 FL. The increasingly popular "digiscoping" – photographing with a digital camera through a spotting scope – is intended to be possible in previously unknown quality. The focal lengths correspond, in conjunction with the camera sensor, to a 35mm equivalent of over 1,000 mm. The camera eyepiece DC4 is particularly suitable for wildlife, nature, and astronomical observations. Zeiss Sports Optics sees the camera eyepiece as a reference device for the possibilities of combined systems of spotting scope and camera. The DC4 will be released in a limited series of 1,000 pieces and is said to herald "a new era of digiscoping," as Zeiss boldly promises. This photography technique, which is becoming increasingly widespread, is also gaining more followers in Germany. The extreme close-ups made possible by the magnification of the spotting scope are still expected to provide sharp image quality. With the DC4, mounted on the eyepiece bayonet of the Zeiss Diascope, a closed unit of telescope optics, eyepiece, and camera is created. The image format of the camera is visible when looking through the eyepiece, allowing one to recognize the framing at any time and trigger the camera during observation without having to look at the built-in 2-inch display.
