The Taurus models are pleasant to shoot and control, extremely precise, and nearly indestructible in their construction. Features of the RT 627 STS model include a rubberized grip, an SA/DA trigger, a fixed front sight with adjustable rear sight, as well as the "Taurus Security System" (TSS), which is operated by a separate key (turning clockwise) and prevents cocking the hammer and firing a shot when in the locked position.

The transfer bar mechanism also prevents the firing pin from being struck unless the trigger is fully pulled back.
