The revolver was manufactured by the long-established British firearms maker Webley & Scott in Birmingham. The Mk-IV series in .38 S&W caliber was used during World War II by British and Commonwealth forces, among others.
A distinctive feature of this version is the original “War Finish” model marking. This indicates the simplified surface treatment used during wartime, which omitted elaborate polishing. As a result, visible machining marks may be present from the factory.
The Webley Mk IV is characterized by its break-open action with an automatic case ejector. When opened, the barrel and cylinder tilt down together. The revolver also has an external hammer and a single-action/double-action trigger system.
The firearm is in condition 2–3 and shows normal signs of use consistent with its age and use. These may include light scratches on the finish and signs of use on the grips.
The condition description is a general assessment. Not all signs of use typically associated with this condition grade will necessarily be present on the firearm offered.
