In 1951, the Makarov Model self-loading pistol, named after its designer, was introduced into military service in the former Soviet Union. Later, various countries in the former Warsaw Pact adopted this model as a service weapon for the police and military. Like the original, this CO₂ model features a single- and double-action system, all functionally relevant controls, and a moving slide. Its robust construction is especially evident in the fact that all key components, including the frame, slide, and external controls, are made entirely of metal.
