The British military Enfield Pattern 1853 is a rifle musket (black powder rifle, single shot, muzzle-loading, rifled barrel, and mercury fulminate percussion cap ignition) produced by the Royal Arsenal of Enfield (and subcontracted manufacturers) between 1853 and 1867.
This model, also known as Enfield Pattern 1853 Rifle-Musket, Pattern 1853 Enfield, P53 Enfield, and Enfield Rifle-Musket, is, like rifles used by several powers of the time, a derivative of the French 1850 Minié rifle. It replaced the famous Brown Bess musket and was later converted into the Snider-Enfield breech-loading rifle.
Replica of the historic English firearm: Enfield 3 band Pattern 1853 rifle musket.
