Additional information on the differences with a “metric” FAL: contrary to popular belief, the incompatibility between some mechanism parts is not due to the difference between the metric and imperial systems, the difference comes from a design change of certain parts as the L1A1 was improved on several levels compared to the original FAL. A number of parts are nevertheless interchangeable. It is also important to know that the L1A1 accepts all FAL magazines (metric or not) unlike the “metric” FAL which can only accept metric magazines. These FALs have an excellent reputation for their accuracy and are therefore a wise choice for the discipline of Service Rifle Shooting.
