Walther P5 LONG pistol cal. 9×19 ser. no. 085

The Walther P5 Lang (also known as P5L) in 9×19 mm Parabellum caliber is an extremely rare long-barrelled sport variant of the famous Walther P5 semi-automatic pistol. Introduced in the late 1980s by Carl Walther GmbH, it differs from the standard model with features designed specifically for precision shooting and collecting.

Extended barrel: The main aesthetic and mechanical feature is the longer barrel that noticeably protrudes from the closed slide, reminiscent of the classic Walther P38 design.

Adjustable sights: Unlike the fixed sights on defence or service models, the Lang version has a micrometrically adjustable rear sight notch.

Revised P38 mechanics: It retains the geometric tilting block locking system inherited from the P38 (the barrel moves straight back without rotating or tilting), contributing to excellent inherent accuracy.

Unique P5 series details: Like the standard version, the P5L ejects the cartridge case to the left and uses a lever on the frame with a dual function as hold-open (slide lock) and decocker (safe hammer drop).

Caliber: 9×19 mm Parabellum.

Feeding: Single-stack 8-round magazine with a heel release located at the bottom of the grip.

Trigger: Double Action / Single Action mixed trigger.

The Walther P5 Lang (P5L) is an exceptionally rare firearm: according to Walther factory production records and specialist historical studies (such as those by expert Dieter H. Marschall), fewer than 80 units were produced in total (the most credible estimate is about 68 pieces). Over time, the estimate rose slightly to around 120/130 pieces.

To put this number in context within the entire production:

Walther P5 Standard: about 104,300 pieces (of which 50,000 were for the Dutch police alone).

Walther P5 Compact: about 5,500 pieces.

Walther P5 Lang: just over 100 pieces with three-digit serial numbers.

After the limited production, Walther released long-barrel models on the market (the frame bears another serial number with standard numbering). The fact that this one has matching frame and barrel serial numbers clearly assigns it to the first limited numbered series.

The one we present is in perfect condition, practically new old stock, complete with serialised box, manual, test firing proof, second magazine, and cleaning rod.

The firearm is like new with perfect barrel, mechanics, and action. Produced and proofed in ULM in 1989 (IK). A true rarity, 9×19 Parabellum caliber.
