The ELD® Match (Extremely Low Drag match) bullets are technologically advanced and highly precise bullets, equipped with a Heat Shield® tip featuring the perfect apex profile combined with numerous design characteristics that provide the highest ballistic coefficients in their class, superior accuracy, and extreme consistency between bullet to bullet and batch to batch. All conventional polymer tips from manufacturers melt during flight. During testing of what would become the ELD-X hunting bullet, Hornady® engineers, using Doppler radar, discovered that all materials used in the tips of tapered, high ballistic coefficient bullets melt during flight and deform, reducing the ballistic coefficient and degrading accuracy, especially at longer ranges (beyond 365 m). To mitigate this effect, Hornady® identified a heat-resistant polymer and developed the patented Heat Shield® tip. This revolutionary tip creates the perfect apex for the bullet. This revolutionary technology enabled the creation of the most advanced match bullet on the market, the ELD® Match bullet. With the ELD® Match bullet, superior accuracy and industry-leading ballistic design have been achieved. The secant ogive and tapered tail, combined with the patented Heat Shield® tip, create a bullet with the highest possible ballistic coefficient in its class. Verified with Doppler radar, the ballistic coefficient of ELD® Match bullets does not change during flight, thanks to the structural integrity of the Heat Shield® tip.
