Il Defender XL combina un campo visivo particolarmente ampio con un punto rosso volutamente grande da 8 MOA. Questa variante è pensata per utenti che danno più importanza alla rapida acquisizione e riacquisizione del punto rispetto alla copertura precisa del bersaglio.

Cosa significa praticamente 8 MOA
8 MOA coprono circa 5,8 cm a 25 m. È facilmente percepibile, ma copre molto più bersaglio rispetto a 2, 3 o 5 MOA.


Limite principale
L’XL è più grande di ST/CCW e utilizza un emettitore aperto. Non è la prima scelta per massima compattezza o protezione dalle intemperie.

Perché 8 MOA non è un «meglio o peggio», ma una scelta d’uso
Un punto rosso più grande viene percepito più rapidamente, ma occupa più spazio nell’immagine del bersaglio. Vortex considera gli 8 MOA un’opzione particolarmente veloce per distanze brevi e colpi rapidi successivi. Chi lavora principalmente su piccole zone di precisione a distanze maggiori beneficia di un punto più piccolo.

Consiglio pratico: regola la luminosità solo fino a quando il punto è subito visibile. Un punto da 8 MOA sovraesposto appare ancora più grande e può compromettere inutilmente la precisione.

8 MOA versus 5 MOA, ST and CCW
The Defender XL 5 MOA keeps the large window but covers the target more finely. The Defender ST 3 MOA is more compact and clearly precision-oriented. The Defender CCW 6 MOA is smaller and uses Shield RMSc.

Risk of wrong purchase: Don’t just check the footprint. An XL housing can spatially differ depending on slide, rear sight or holster compared to a smaller Micro Red Dot.

How large does 8 MOA appear at 25 m? The angular coverage is about 5.8 cm. At 50 m it is about 11.6 cm. Is 8 MOA unsuitable for precise shooting? Not fundamentally. The dot covers more target area. For small target zones and longer distances, a smaller dot is usually easier to hold finely. Which footprint does the Defender XL use? DeltaPoint Pro. Depending on pistol or platform, an adapter plate may still be necessary. Does the sight have to be removed to change the battery? No. The CR2032 is accessible from above. Is the Defender XL an enclosed red dot? No. It is an open reflex sight. Those who want to shield the emitter more against dirt and precipitation should compare an enclosed model.
