How to shop on Gunfinder?
Gunfinder is a marketplace and search engine at the same time. This means that you can find listings that have been published exclusively on Gunfinder, as well as offers from all other major platforms and online stores such as Frankonia, egun or the VDB.
This way you can find the best offers on the net on Gunfinder. For this reason there are two different buying processes.
For offers from other stores we redirect you directly to the corresponding store.
For offers that have been posted directly on Gunfinder, you can contact the seller directly: Simply click on the green "Buy" button .
How do I communicate with the seller?
Depending on whether the offer was posted directly on Gunfinder, or comes from another site, there are two ways to contact the seller.
Marketplace offer:
With the marketplace offer, you will see a button next to the green Buy button that says "Ask a question", which has a letter icon on it. If you click on it you can ask the seller a question.
If the offer was published on another platform such as VDB, you will be redirected by us when you click on the green button. There you can contact the seller.
I can not reach the seller
If you send a message to the buyer via the Gunfinder messaging system, he will also receive a notification from us via email. In our experience, it can take up to a few days for a response from the seller.
If you do not receive an answer to your question after a disproportionately long period of time, you can report the seller to us, whereupon we will try to contact him again. However, for privacy and security reasons, we cannot give out contact information of a seller to interested parties.
If you still do not get an answer, this can have many reasons:
- The vendor has received a lot of inquiries and is taking a while to process them.
- The vendor has limited online access - maybe he is hunting or on vacation?
- The notification landed in his spam box. Try to send him another mail.
- He is not interested in your offer. In this case it is recommended to look for another offer.
Can I call the provider?
Currently we do not offer the possibility to publish the phone number in the offer.
Of course, it can be useful to make an arrangement by phone, but the seller must provide the prospective buyer with his phone number for this purpose. We recommend to make most of the arrangements in writing to make the selling process traceable and secure.
Goods have been paid for, but the seller does not contact you/ does not send the goods. What to do?
It may take a few days for a response from the seller. Please note that it may take a few days for the money to be posted and for the goods to be shipped. Please give the seller some time to get the item to the post office - especially with weapons many private sellers have little experience and are especially careful.
However, if you are waiting an unreasonable amount of time for a response from the seller and do not receive any clarifying feedback, proceed as follows:
- Set a final deadline for the seller to send the goods or return the money.
- Report the seller to us so that we can verify it.
- File a criminal complaint with the police stating all exchanged data such as ad number, bank data of the seller, phone number, message exchange.
I have received an item that differs from the description.
Please note that especially in private sales the same standards cannot be applied as to professional sellers. We recommend to clarify all details about the item in advance. Please check the item description and the pictures carefully for possible damage and contact the seller directly if necessary.
If you have damages or discrepancies on the item that are not obvious from the listing, you may be able to agree on a price reduction with the seller.
If you are unable to reach an amicable solution, we recommend that you seek legal advice. Please report the matter to us. If we receive more reports about an unreliable seller, we can take appropriate countermeasures.
Please note: Since you are buying the item from a seller, you are only entering into a contract with the seller and not with Gunfinder. We cannot help you in case of complaints and ask you to contact a lawyer.
Package never arrived to me.
Parcels are always tracked by their tracking number. Ask the seller for the tracking number and the logistics company he used to ship the firearm. Shipments of firearms are usually handled by Overnite. With Overnite, the shipment can also be tracked online, and the driver can be reached by phone.
If you are waiting an unreasonable amount of time for the shipment to arrive and do not receive clarifying feedback from the seller, please proceed as follows:
- Set a final deadline for the seller to send the paid goods or to refund the purchase price.
- Report the situation to our customer service via the damage report form, so that they can check the seller.
- File a criminal complaint with the police, giving all data such as ad number, bank details of the seller, phone number, e-mail traffic, etc.. Especially in the case
- of weapon dispatch the announcement of irregularities with the police is inevitable!
The price of an offer is too high/low
Basically, a seller can choose for which price he wants to sell his goods. A too high price is often due to the ideal value the goods have for the seller. Who likes to part with the reliable rifle that has accompanied him all his hunting life? However, too low offers can often be rightly suspicious. On the one hand, the offered goods may be defective or damaged, on the other hand, it may be an attempt at fraud - both reasons to report the advertisement to us, whereupon we will have it examined by our experts.
