The new R8 with 10-shot magazine
The new Blaser R8 Ultimate X finally comes with greatly expanded magazine capacity for driven hunts: exactly ten cartridges fit into the new magazine unit. That's how many cartridges fit into the magazine of the new R8 Ultimate X. With this greatly expanded magazine capacity, it thus fulfills the long-standing wish of many hunters and shooters to carry an R8 with a larger reserve.
For this purpose, the trigger system, including trigger guard and trigger blade, was separated from the magazine and installed in a newly developed system extension. As a result, magazines with a capacity of 10 rounds can now be inserted into the magazine well of the R8, providing more than enough space even for powerful magnum cartridges.
The R8 Ultimate X in detail:
The standard configuration always includes an adjustable buttplate (VSR), adjustable buttplate (VSK) or the new buttplate compact (SKC), and a match chambered grip ball.
The following calibers will be available as 10-round magazines:
- Magazine No. 19 - .308 Win / .243 Win / 6.5 Creedmoor / 6 XC
- Magazine No. 25 - .338 Lapua Magnum / .300 Norma Magnum
- Magazine No. 22 - 7mm Remington Magnum / .300 Win Mag. / .338 Win. Mag.
- Magazine No. 23 - .270 WSM / .300 WSM / 6.5 PRC / 8.5x55 Blaser
- Magazine No. 20 - 6.5x55 SE / 8x57IS
- Magazine No. 21 - .30-06 / 9.3x62 / .270 Win. / 7x64 / 6.5x65 RWS
Also available is a flush-fitting universal magazine housing, with which the R8 standard magazine inserts can be used.
In principle, the Blaser saddle mount can still be used. Due to the slightly increased overall length of the R8 Ultimate X, it may be necessary to adjust the eye relief to the optics according to individual preferences. In this case, Blaser recommends the Blaser fixed mount with Picatinny rail, if required.
